Mechanical Milling: Our Specialty for Custom Surfaces

Since the early eighties, Alca srl has been involved in a wide range of mechanical machining. This company is located in northern Italy, specifically in the metropolitan city of Milan, in Lombardy. Indeed, all the facilities are located in Pozzo d’Adda. Precision mechanical machining has been the specialty of this entrepreneurial reality since its inception, thanks to the numerous precision works (especially on behalf of third parties) carried out by the company with great meticulousness.

Various works for different needs

Our company carries out various activities, always in the field of precision metalworking. Among all these, mechanical turning cannot go unmentioned. We can boast a well-equipped turning department, with modern CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery managed by highly qualified personnel, allowing us to guarantee the production of a large number of components with minimal tolerances and a very high level of precision.

Among our skills is also mechanical assembly. We offer complete assembly services, integrating precisely machined components and joining them together through screws or bolting, for example, ultimately creating finished products that meet the varied needs (functional or aesthetic) demanded by today’s complex market.

Our specialty: mechanical milling, for custom surfaces

Among the many services offered to clients by our company, one that particularly makes us proud is undoubtedly mechanical milling, a mechanical technique that allows achieving a variety of results by removing material through milling from the workpiece.

The milling machine is the main machinery used for this operation. There are various types of milling machines of different kinds, including vertical milling machines, horizontal milling machines, and CNC milling centers (these machines can also be programmed using numerical control technology). Milling machines are extremely versatile machines and can therefore be used to perform a wide variety of operations, including milling flat surfaces, contouring, shaping, drilling, and more.

Milling tools are also fundamental. Milling tools are generally made using hard materials such as steel or tungsten carbide. These tools can come in various shapes and sizes depending on the type of milling operation to be performed. There are many types of milling operations, which we list briefly:

Face milling: in this case, the tool rotates on its end and removes material perpendicular to the work surface.
Contour milling: particularly used to create more complex shapes or more detailed contours.
Groove milling: useful for building grooves or slots.
Side milling: here, the tool cuts along the side of the workpiece.

Cutting parameters, such as cutting speed, cutting depth, and feed rate, are essential for achieving excellent results in milling operations. Cutting speed cannot be neglected; it is the speed at which the tool penetrates through the workpiece. The feed rate represents the speed at which the material is approached towards the tool, and the cutting depth is the amount of material reduced to chips and removed with each pass of the tool.

ALCA SRL: reliable and precise for forty years

If you need to carry out your operations and want to rely only on the hands of qualified and experienced personnel capable of working with modern and cutting-edge machinery, you just have to turn to our company, and you won’t regret it.

Since the early eighties, we have been operating seriously in the Lombardy region and we are a constantly evolving reality, continuously updating to fully meet the demands of a very complex and competitive precision metalworking market.
